You know how the photos and the events just keeps accumulating. The more you backlog, the greater the inertia to getting an update. At first it was 1 month, then there went 2, 3, 4 and before you know it, half a year has gone by and I haven’t updated this space for a good half of 2011 (which is sadly ending real soon!)! Yes, so here I am at a glorious 5am Sunday morning, trying to sieve through thousands of photos from the past 6 months. A lot of which I cannot recall the details, the title of the dishes, the places I’ve been to. All in all, let’s just make it a photo galore shall we? :)
From my last update in Feb came my Virgin US trip in March, I was MAD excited. All expenses on the company, including the very bitchy 250bucks visa! *beams*

Nothing beats seeing your company at it’s land of origin, even the air was 10XXXXXXX fresher :)

They say, when in Rome, do what Romans do. So what do you do when you go to the US? You shop till you drop and eat food of ridiculous proportions. And there is Starbucks from its motherland :)

The very controversial picture posted on Facebook..

It’s hard to not gain weight when you’re on business trip, the company feeds us well *hehe*
Farewell lunch from the colleagues on our last days in the states

The americans are ultra friendly, they actually stoppped to let me pat their doggy!

Outside work :)
Transit at Japan Narita Airport. One more trip this year and I’ll reach Star Alliance Gold status! *beam*

This is like a super crash course of what took place back in March, honestly, I cldn’t recall a lot of details already so I’ve decided to just post some main shots. Not to mention collaging 250 shots of US photos is no joke. Then there was Singapore after my virgin US trip. Think this was at Buono. SO LONG AGO!!

There there was GariBaldi, no special occasion I believe, we just wanted to try it out cause everyone was raving about it. Hmm.. I think it was not bad, I THINK! But do not ask me the title of the dishes, I really can’t recall..

And then there was Acres Gala Dinner 2011 at Orchid Club?! Ok, someone needs to help me out here, haha, I’m hopeless when it comes to recalling details..
PHEW!! Can’t believe I just worked through my first blog post in 6 months! So many changes to the template I’m a little lost.. Hope it’s a good start. Brief and slip short but HEY! It’s a startttt! :) Till then!

Valentine’s Day has always been one of our highlights yearly. This is our first valentines as working adults and it’s such a pity that it falls on a Monday! As Ed and I are planning for a long get away at the end of the year, we both agreed that we’ll not take leave to celebrate this event. Nonetheless, the romantic celebration must not be compromised in any way. We took on Ben’s recommendation and made a reservation at Salt Grill @ Ion (55th Level), it was an AWESOME experience. I’ll highly recommend it to everyone, if u’re looking for quality food with fabulous view + ambience, this is THE place to go. You’ll first take a special lift straight up to the 55th floor on Ion.

The lift lobby and the elevator itself is dimly lit with motion sky view, with new age music playing softly in the background.

Us fooling around in the lift.

and TADA! Here we’re at Salt Grill & Sky bar on the 55th floor with an awesome birds eye view of the city :)

The interior decor of the restaurant is superb for both day and night dinning. Full glass panel all around with the ceiling in a dome shape, allowing you to capture the stars at night; sunshine in the day, perfecto!

The restaurant does not have a large capacity so I’d recommend reservations to be made before hand. Us extremely pleased and happy with the valentines meal :)

Let’s move on to the amazing food, we had 2 entrees and 1 starter. The bread selection with dukkah+olive oil is a must try! The dukkah added such edge to your tastebuds, it’s nothing like the typical olive oil+vinegar.

We took up the restaurant’s recommendation and had the Sydney crab omelette which was a superb mix of east+west. It’s one of those dishes that doesn’t need strong flavoring, purely using fresh crab meat to tantalize your taste buds. The yellowtail kingfish sashimi will be a MUST have if you’re a big fan of sashimi. Who would’ve taught sashimi could go so well with cheese?! This is actually one of Luke Mangan’s signature dish which was previously only sold in Japan, due to popular demand, they brought it to SGP’s menu as well. Eat or die regretting!

Our mains were also from their recommendations. If you’re a fish lover, Barramundi Fillet is your top choice. Tender and juicy, lightly fragrant with miso mayonnaise, a splendid match. Ed had the Wagyu rump with their special Cafe De Paris butter. If you think Lawry’s is good, wait till you try this.

For dessert I’d recommend their Strawberry souffle as the must have, it’s actually something new on their menu. Previously it was passionfruit souffle but most customers feedback that it’s too sour hence the change to strawberry. It’s really something! Soft and smooth with a strong strawberry flavour!

After the fabulous meal, we checked out Ion Sky gallery, played with their computerized binoculars .

Took some pretty cool shots, p.s the words were originally there, not added by me!

This marks the end of our perfect valentines meal :) Do join us in the Salt Grill experience, worth every penny!

This year, my number 1 valentines present is a handmade word clock by the BF, from scratch! He programmed the chip, printed the screen himself and soldered the LEDs on. The clock counts at 5 minutes interval, really cool isn’t it? It’s now pretty-ly seated at my office table!

And here’re present number 2, 3, 4+ …… HEEE! I was made a really happy girl that day :)

Last but not least, the highlight every year is none other than a self wrapped bouquet from the BF. Purple and blue was the theme this year, he surprised me with a personal delivery to my office!

Hope you guys had a wonderful valentines day like I had :) Tatas!

So after China & Hong Kong, there was Singapore for 1 day and Taiwan followed immediately after. Took 2 days leave to make it in time for daddy’s 60th birthday. We reserved a room and celebrated it with family friends at daddy’s friend’s restaurant.

This is the first time in decades since we got together as a family to celebrate daddy’s birthday, daddy was really high that day lol!

Reunion dinner was with the 6th uncle’s family, grandmother (monster) and my sister’s family. This is only 1/4 of the family, I cannot imagine how crazy the picture will look with the whole troop.

Pretty shots with the baby girl who has grown to much! She is getting cuter by the day. Amazingly she still remembers me though I see her only once every half a year :)

The week passed by in a breeze, too many gatherings too little time. This trip was purely to spend quality time with my loved ones. Had little time to buy goodies back to Singapore, the luggage still went to 50kg somehow yet I always regret not bringing more of this and that. Here’s my favourite buddy who turns 11 this year! Can you imagine he has been with the family for over a decade? He behaves nothing like an elderly, ever so energetic and strong :P Oh! He’s wearing his new clothes for CNY, really pretty right?

Have a great one everyone! Will be back with more updates soon!
Virgin business trip

My virgin business trip took place on the 17th to the 27th of Jan. This trip encompassed many firsts for me. It was also my virgin trip on the A380 via Singapore Airlines to Hong Kong. Honestly, the plane didn’t look too different from the inside and the inflight staircase which I was so excited about? Wasn’t all too impressive either. All in all, A380 – checked.

While going through the photos, I realise I didn’t have any people shots so it’s going to be a fully object post. I crossed the Hong Kong – Shen Zhen border for the first time, used my “China” issued travel document as my passport for the first time, all in all, an interesting experience. In order to save travel time in the morning (we’re talking about INSANE traffic in China), we stayed at the outskirts of the city to be nearer to the CM. My manager kindly advised me to stay in a better hotel in the city but we decided to follow the process folks and place time on a higher priority. We had quite a bit of scare before we went, everyone kept telling us how the hotel sucks and it’s really awful and all so we were mentally prepared for a Hotel81 standard but thank god everything turned out much better than expectation. Below was my home for 10 long nights :)
Can’t disclose work related pictures so let’s move on to Hong Kong :) The process guys brought us to a tiny local store for breakfast. Gotta try the silk milk tea in Hong Kong, it’s somewhat a must!

The food in China and Hong Kong are unbelievably cheap, not to mention the awesome exchange rate, how can anyone resist! We visited the MongKok, Tsim Sha Tsui, The Central District, IFC etc. Tonnes of walking and really wouldn’t have made it if not for the guys who helped me carry all my shoppings. Haha, do NOT ask me how much I bought.

Nobody told me Hong Kong will be THIS crowded, I swear it was wayy worse than China, Shen Zhen at least, we could barely walk out of the MRT station without pushing and getting pushed by the crowd.

For SKII lovers, you HAVE and I mean HAVE HAVE HAVE to head over to Hong Kong now and swipe every bottle of SKII you can find on the shelf, it’s so unbelievably cheap you’ll cry. A large bottle of Facial Treatment Essence (215ml) which retails for over 220 sgd is only 130sgd! If you don’t buy a dozen bottles, you’re not doing yourself justice. And you’ve to try out Emporio Armani’s foundation, you can find their counter in the airport as well, it’s my latest love!

The trip ended with an overstuffed luggage and a bad sore throat, shopping thirst much satisfied so yayy!! Came back to Singapore for 1 day and flew off on the next for Taiwan. Never thought flying can be this tiring but truly, it ain’t fun being superman. *Beams* Can’t wait for Ed to head over to Hong Kong for this training, anyone needs to restock your SKII collection?
Happy birthday to Teepee!

I was mentally prepared to have a crazy 2011, in my mentor’s words – to roll in the shit with all of us haha :P The year started with an awesome birthday celebration with Ed @ Pan Pacific’s Club King Suite.
We snacked and chilled out at the Club Lounge while waiting for our room to be ready, everything is free and free flow!

The Club Lounge

The strange thing about this suite is that it has a MEGA huge toilet and by mega I mean a 1 to 1 ratio between the living room and the toilet, a pretty queer allocation of space I’d say. Check out the huge ass toilet!

Because our room weren’t ready when we checked-in, my birthday dinner was on the house! We were over the moon! Us shrieking with joy @ Pan Pacific’s 10 Claymore.
Really good spread, one of the best international buffets we’ve eaten in Singapore. Because we went around the new year period, there was a special menu including Premium US Angus Beef Tenderloin, Braised Oxtail, Tiger Prawn and Lam Rack – unlimited orders!
After dinner, the BF planned a little surprise event, he brought me to KTV! Haha, may not sound like a great deal to you guys but believe it or not, I’ve been begging for him to go with me for almost 4 years now since we got together. He’s NEVA sang at a KTV before! So imagine the thrill when I found out that he is finally stepping out of his shell!

He was a little shy at first, but he warmed up fast enough.

Look at how passionate he sang WAHAHAHAHHAHA!

We had another awesome breakfast at 10 Claymore the next morning, I’ll highly recommend 10 Claymore for Sunday brunch, the spread is REALLY good!

With the morning sun, we hit the pool and jaccuzzi right away.

After all these years, we finally got the formula right. We checked in early and relaxed in the suite, enjoyed the hotel’s facilities and room services. Each year, we’re always trying to find somewhere fancy for dinner and only to return to the hotel late at night, all too exhausted to enjoy anything at all. So this year was a refreshing change. Got hold of a Gorillapod and it’s such a beauty! You can literally place it anywhere to take a picture! Over the railing, window, chair, everything! My mum was utterly amused.

To end, here’s my present from the BF. In case you’re wondering, my key chain is a fox tail my mum got for me in Taiwan, genuine fur, really pretty stuff :) Goes perfect with my bag :P

That’s all I’ve for you now, next entry up tml! :)
Last year…
ended on a high note :)

A really outdated entry but memorable nonetheless. My colleague Jing Jing invited the team over for a little xmas/housewarming gathering on the 2nd last day of the year 2010. Only 4 of us could make it but we each brought our significant others so we made a good crowd. Some of us went earlier in the morning to join Jing Jing in her baking session where she made awesome coconut almond cookies+choco cookies. Boy, looking at this picture forces me to accept the fact that we’ve officially stepped into adulthood, I’m still in denial lol!

And 2010 ended with a FF gathering at gardens – Arbite. The group was *almost complete, with the absence of Moyin (who was with her mum) and Tanen’s yet-to-be-found significant other. Arbite’s new years eve special was a little quirky so we went for alacarte instead.

Ben who was missing in action for some time could finally join us and the boys wasted no time filling him in with every girl Tanen had in his life for the time he was away LOL! The wine glasses looked so pretty in the pictures, random yes. We opened a bottle of sparkling wine for the special occasion but I didn’t touch mine, Ed had both portions.

The food was pretty good, I’d recommend their pasta, it’s really decent stuff :)

We caught the fireworks at midnight @ Gardens and at the very moment the clock struck twelve, we witnessed a tragic death of a puppy who got ran over by a vehicle. The rest of the night was history.

To friends and loved ones, 2011 is gonna be a blast for us all! :)

Greetings from China!

This space has been stagnant for a really long time and apologies for letting it rot for so long. 2010 ended with a blast! Lots of overdue pictures from our countdown at gardens. 2011 began on a high note with my birthday get away at the Pan Pacific’s king suite, my huge Kate spade bday gift from the BF, crazy visa application and of cuz endless packing for business trip. Too much to update and too little time. I’ve a few hundred pictures sitting in my drive waiting to be collaged, such pain. I’ve with me here our latest batch of parrotlet babies, one of the better batches we’ve had so far, really independent ;)

Will be back with pictures from Hong Kong and China’s business trip. US trip has been confirmed, 1st week of March, can’t wait! The shopping in Hong Kong was SOOOO good you can’t ask for more, do not even get me started on how many 215ml bottles of SKII Skin Treatment essence I bought haha, it was TOO CHEAP! Taiwan in 2 days! Will be back with more updates. Take care!
Before the year ends
how timely :)

I made it in time for an update before 2010 ends!!! *hooray*! It’s been an amazing and exciting year and I believe next year is going to be more challenging than ever. Plenty of things to look forward to and many heartfelt blessings for the passing year. Did lots of random things over the past month while being absent from this space. Met up with Carine and finally caught up with my dear girl, it’s been TOO long! Caught many many movies+shows+series, had too many steals from the great x’mas sales. I even got an up-sized wardrobe cause the previous one could no longer fit but after piling in my x’mas steals, space is still short – life is tough like that. I’ve also gotten a new phone! My darling baby Samsung Galaxy S, it’s been a dream come true honestly. After having gone through the iPhone, Windows Mobile and now Android, I believe I’m able to say: ANDROID ROCK them all!!!!!
Yes I know it looks just like the iPhone but functionality wise, it’s not. S has got a much bigger screen, standing at 4″ WVGA, it’s features the 16M SUPER AMOLED that offers one of the best mobile viewing experience (even under bright daylight!). Uses a 1GHz processor which sets it on par with the premium Android phones alike (such as HTC Desire HD), comes with 8GB/16GB storage (expandable) and HD video recording. One of the most amazing experience has been the Swype keyboard which beats typing hands down. Simply “sweep” your finger across the letters that make up the word (e.g hello, you go h-e-l-l-0) without lifting your finger off the screen. So in one smooth swift motion, your word is mapped out in your textbox! Once you get the hang of it, take a random spin over your screen and the device automatically figures out the word you’re looking for. You’ve to try it to believe it but once Swype converted, you CANNOT imagine the days where you go: h (lifts finger) e (lifts finger) l (lifts finger) l (lifts finger) o (lifts finger) *yawns*

S offers you a customisable Home screen on top of your application screen. Here’s how my Home screens look, I’ve 3 for easy access. Android allows you to multi-task and run programs simultaneously. Not to mention the customizability of it all.
The application screen looks just like the iPhone’s. I’ve been swimming in the Android Market every day, most apps which are needed are either free or super cheap. So far I’ve only paid for 2 apps, one is the Act1Video player which allows me to add subtitles to my movies/shows, did I mention Android = no need to convert movie/video files at all? (Cry you iPhone users haha). My phone is also my driving GPS, nooo, not just Google map, the fully functional one which tells you to turn left in 200metres ahead – free of charge. The connectBot/terminal emulator which Ed kops to talk to his computer whenever he needs to be away from his comp, he says it’s a paid app on iPhone (free on Android~~)
The default firmware for Galaxy S when launched was Android 2.1, Samsung provided the upgrade to Android Froyo 2.2 and check out my S’s performance tested on Quandrant Standard, an amazing 1940!

As of now, teepee is a 100% Android fan. Even Ed has been swayed. Once his plan is due in March, he is gonna abandon his iPhone and embrace the HTC Desire HD (Android). So please come join us over to the bright side haha :)
Updates on X’mas dinner with my beloved FFs @ Buono. Leaving the pictures to do the talking :)

Come NYE, we’ll have Ben and Moyin with us and the gang will be whole! (Tanen please go get yourself a gf, you’re the only loner now)

Ed has booked the Pacific King Suite @ Pan Pacific for my birthday! It’s coming in 4 days, can’t wait!! On a really random note, here’s an ugly dog which Ed wants to get, so damn ugly omg.

Alrighty, I’m out. Thank you guys for visiting this space despite my constant absence, you guys are definitely not forgotten, I promise to make time! :) Tatas!
